This has allowed the company to open settlement accounts with Russian banks that hold direct correspondent accounts with financial institutions in China, and to join China's Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS). Together with the direct correspondent accounts, this allows payments to be made in Chinese yuan and Russian roubles directly, without intermediary banks — which minimises the risk of delays in processing them.
